Museu do Aljube – Resistência e Liberdade

Museu do Aljube – Resistência e Liberdade in Lisbon, Portugal, is a public museum dedicated to preserving the memory of resistance to the Portuguese dictatorship and promoting reflection on freedom, democracy, and human rights. Housed in the former Aljube prison, where political prisoners were detained and interrogated during the Estado Novo, the museum was inaugurated in 2015. Its permanent and temporary exhibitions present documents, testimonies, photographs, and audiovisual materials that explore political repression, anti-fascist resistance, the struggle for decolonization, and the Carnation Revolution. The museum serves as an important educational resource for students, researchers, educators, and the general public, fostering critical reflection on the value of democratic freedoms and civic participation.
