Political Talks Implementation

Young Europeans Take the Lead in “Political Talks” Reflection Groups

CESIE (Italy) is leading the first major research milestone of the Get Political project: the implementation of “Political Talks”. Across eight countries, reflection groups are engaging at least 80 young people from diverse backgrounds to openly discuss their perceptions of political leaders, media information sources, and electoral systems.

This activity aims to capture the knowledge, perspectives, and insights of youth regarding political and electoral systems. It serves to understand their level of political literacy, motivations, interests, and perceptions. This data informs the development of materials and strategies to address these gaps, aligning with the objective of empowering young people with the skills and knowledge for active participation.

Each partner will organize two reflection groups, planned as informal conversations among young people to access their knowledge regarding political and electoral systems and processes. Each reflection group will be made up of at least 5 young people from diverse backgrounds, such as differently able, from diverse socioeconomic, religious, and ethnic backgrounds or with diverse sexuality and gender identities. All reflection groups will follow a set of fixed open-ended questions that explores the following topics: Political Systems and Structures, Perceptions of Political Leaders, Media and Information Sources, Electoral Systems and Processes, Political Issues. To explore the same topics and gather complementary information, partners will follow a script created by CESIE, this script will be composed of icebreaking, thought provoking, exploratory and brainstorming questions.
