The visit helped me better understand Portugal’s democratic transition and the important role Mário Soares played in shaping modern Portugal and its integration into the European Union. Mário Soares is often called the 'Father of Portuguese Democracy' because of his leading role after the Carnation Revolution and in Portugal's accession to the EU. - Eva Jurinec, Slovenia
